Three fingered gloves

Everything I make is on request from Aaron lately. He wanted a pair of three fingered gloves. Not quite gloves, not quite mittens. He said, "They look ridiculous, but they keep your hands warmer because each finger has another finger right next to it." So I made him a pair. This is not a great picture.


They match his mask. He is weird.


I decided to make Michael a turtle using the Sheldon pattern, for Christmas. Everything in his room is blue and brown, so that's what color his turtle will be. I am running out of good turtle names. I think this one will be Sherman, haha. I have to think of something for Christian for Christmas.

Bokaclava finished!

I showed Aaron Ravelry a while ago. I had shown him how to knit, and he wanted to find something awesome to knit. Well, he found this "gargoyle mask" as he calls it, and decided I needed to make him one. He knitted for like one day and then went back to video games and has since occasionally asked me about when I was going to make this for him. I finally got around to it last week. I was not at all looking forward to it. It is weird and looked complicated. I am usually up for a challenge though and he really wanted it, so I got to work. As it turns out, it was not that hard at all. There were a couple complicated areas (mainly sewing the ears on was confusing), but overall it was a fun and interesting knit. And best of all, Aaron loves it. I am, however, somewhat dreading that he will be out shoveling snow in this all winter long, haha. But if he wants to be a total weirdo, who am I to do anything but encourage it by knitting him gargoyle masks?

A few projects to show off

I haven't posted for a while, but I've finished 3 projects lately. I never did finish my dress yet, but I've knitted a couple things.

First, a Pembroke Vest for Christian. He needed a nice church vest. It came out really cute, and he tried it on when we visited last weekend, and he liked it.


He looks drunk here, hahaha.


I also had a request from a friend of a friend to make some Lobster Claw Mitts and Duck booties, both of which are super cute and funny.


Now I really must finish Aaron's socks. I finished the first one ages ago and have the second one started, but I need to get it done sometime soon, especially since it's been getting colder and colder. He also wants this crazy gargoyle mask and a pair of mittens, so I have projects to keep me busy if only I would put some effort into it.

Blah.

So the event I was making the dress for is postponed indefinitely, so I have no real need to fly through finishing it after all. I actually am to the same point where I was when I started over, which is to say almost finished, although now I have lost all motivation to actually finish. As long as I get it done by May, I should be good to go. Really, all I have to do is sew down the facing of the top band, put in the zipper, and do the hem, but I am just in a funk about not even needing it anymore, so I don't know when I'll drag myself back to it.

I have a list of knitting things I need to make also, but I've been putting them off and putting them off. Aaron's second sock, a vest for Christian, some lobster claw mittens and duck booties for one of Amanda's friends (who is going to pay me for them), a crazy gargoyle mask thing for Aaron. No desire to knit these days. I did manage to finish Michael's sweater in time for the shower (everyone loved it), so it is possible for me to do these things. Just a matter of getting started, I guess.

I should also dye up some new yarn sometime soon. I bought a few skeins of a new yarn (Cascade Greenland, a washable aran weight) and also still have some 220 to dye, I think. My craftiness is at a total standstill these days. Life has been weird lately.

Dress started

I got my pattern in yesterday for my dress. I cut out all the pattern pieces and then started the arduous task of cutting all the fabric. I'm still waiting for the chiffon to arrive, so I have still more to cut, but I got the satin, lining, and interfacing cut. There are a few steps I can do with just the fabric that I have now, but not much. I ironed on the interfacing and pinned several pieces to be sewn later today. Then I will be back to waiting for the other fabric to arrive and then cut that and start sewing for real.

I did finish the first of the socks I started for Aaron a few weeks ago. I could have had both socks done in 4 days had I had put any effort into it, but instead the first sock took me like a month because I hardly did any work on it.


Aaron's sister just had a baby, and I kind of want to make him a sweater or something. They're having a baby shower on October 1 (she didn't know she was pregnant until fairly recently and turned out to be much farther along than she thought, so the shower plans got kind of screwed up and he was born before the shower), so hopefully I can knit up a little sweater (probably a Green Zebra Baby Sweater in blue) in the next 3 weeks. I will have to actually put some effort into it rather than sit back and hope it knits itself which is how I've been knitting lately. It doesn't work.
