Pinwheel done

I know I haven't posted lately. That is so not like me. This is what I have been up to lately:

Knitting-wise, I've mainly been working on the pinwheel blanket, and I finally managed to finish it last night! It looks great, and I'm really happy with it. I know Amanda will love it. Here it is, freshly washed and softer than ever:

I also realized last week that my gauge was way off on my Twist & Shout and that I would have to start over on smaller needles. I finally restarted that last night, but I've only knit 2 rows so far, haha. The pattern calls for size 9 needles, and I ended up going down to a size 6! The gauge is better, and I figured since it's such a stretchy sweater it won't matter that much if it's a little smaller than the pattern. I guess that's really all I have to report, which is why I haven't posted lately! That, and Alex was on vacation and not harassing me to do a new post :P

Oh, and speaking of Alex, she is coming over this weekend to dye yarn! Yay, I'm excited. I'm all ready:

Hahahaha. No, I don't intend to dye all that yarn this weekend, but it's good to be prepared, ha. I will be dyeing a skein of sock yarn for Katie too!

New yarn, new project

Okay, the title is kind of a tease because I haven't actually started a new project, BUT I did get the yarn in that I ordered for Christian's new Zodiac Sleep Sack (minus the Zodiac). So I'll be starting that as soon as I finish this post. I'd wait to post until I had some of it to show, but Alex can't wait that long :P Here is the new yarn for that, Lion Brand Cotton-Ease in Cactus, which is not the color I was expecting. I thought it would be more olive-y green, but it's like this weird indefinable color, not brown, not sand, not green, not olive...just cactus, I guess? (It looks green in the picture, but I swear, it's this strange non-color.)

I also got some of the same yarn in Blossom for a sweater for Maddy, Kelly's niece. I won't be starting that right away, though.

Before I knew that my new yarn arrived today I took Twist & Shout out of retirement. I guess it's back on hold, ha. I want to see if I can get this sleep sack done by the time Kelly and Christian come home next week. No problem, right?

I have made a lot of progress on the baby blanket. I'm about halfway done, I'd say. It's hard to get a good picture of it because I can't flatten it out while it's on the needles.

Summer party dress started

I started sewing the dress today. There is a lot to go, and I need to get fabric for the lining, but I made a good start, I think. I also did the straps and ties, but I have to get them turned inside out (outside in, actually, ha) which is such a huge pain. Seriously my least favorite part of making dresses! Anyway, I ordered some lining, and I really need to get that before doing much more.

I also got some new yarn yesterday! Appalachian Yarns was having a sale, and Toni had two colors I really, really liked of Cascade 220. I'm going to use them to make this really cute romper for Christian. I can't wait to get started on that, but I have too much going on right now already.

I've been working on Sabine's Ribbed Baby Jacket. I keep forgetting to mention that I accidentally started this on size 7 needles instead of size 8. I was 44 rows in before I figured that out, but it turned out that my gauge was still correct, so I just kept going even though it irritated me greatly. I'm over it now.

I also finally finished the first sleeve of my cardigan the other day, although I haven't worked on it since then.

Everything is coming along nicely, if more slowly than normal (since I have so much going at once!)
