Dilemma

I'm not at all sure about Pamina. After doing 3 repeats, I tried it on. Pretty tight and hard to get over my heel. Also there was no way I would be able to do an extra repeat because if I did, it wouldn't fit over my calf anyway. So I finished the next partial repeat and am at the heel. I am debating whether to continue or just rip it out.

I like the pattern. I'm not 100% thrilled with this yarn for this pattern. It's going to be shorter than I like because I physically cannot squeeze my lower leg into it, ha. And it's tighter than I would like, even around the ankle. So do I continue?

Here it is on top of another knitted sock, which fits very nicely and is the length I like. The cables are obviously going to pull it in tighter, but this sock has 80 stitches while the other one has 64. Even with 16 extra stitches, the cables are making it this much skinnier. And I have the starts of the heels matched up, and look how much shorter this sock is going to be than I would like...

So I'm thinking as much as I like the pattern, I'm going to end up with a sock that I rarely wear because it's a little too tight and more than a little too short. I kind of don't think that it's worth continuing just for the aesthetic value alone. I'd like wearable socks. Preferably fancy ones, yes, but if the fanciness makes them unwearable...well wearable-ness wins over fanciness, I think. Oh well.

I guess I could do them on larger needles, but I think 2's would be too big and I don't have 1-1/2's. I think Pamina is getting ripped out.

  1. Oh bother it's so pretty. Invest in a 1.5 and do them again with that yarn! I love it!

  2. Well I'm definitely using the yarn for something, but I don't know if I'll be redoing these! Maybe some day.
